Eskan Bank: Under the slogan, "Rethinking the Mixed-Use Buildings," Eskan Bank and the University of Bahrain celebrated their annual "Creative Engineering and Interior Design" Award. The award recognized students from the University of Bahrain's College of Engineering, Architecture Department, based on the judging committee's evaluations, which comprised experienced academics and engineers.

This year's competition centred on designing mixed-use buildings that integrate architectural solutions for the evolving and complex relationships among housing, public services, commercial uses, and sustainability.

The first prize in architecture was awarded to Hamad Husain Alhardan, the second to Ghufran Ali Abdullah Fateel, and the third to Mohammed Ali Hamid Sharar.

In the field of interior design, the first prize was awarded to Zainab Mohamed Hasan Maki, the second prize to Layla Ebrahim Mohamed Hasan, and the third prize to Fatema Ameen Majeed Salman.

On this occasion, the General Manager of Eskan Bank, Mr. Abdulla Taleb, stated that the Creative Engineering Award represents a productive and successful eleven-year partnership with the University of Bahrain, during which students have had the opportunity to experience challenges to achieve the highest levels of excellence and innovation.

Eskan Bank aims to enhance cooperation with the University of Bahrain to develop capabilities in various engineering disciplines. This initiative is driven by a sense of social responsibility toward developing young talents to implement projects that contribute to the comprehensive developmental journey, aligning with current data and changes observed in the engineering sector.

The General Manager of Eskan Bank confirmed that creative ideas and designs submitted by the students will be showcased on the bank's website, serving as a permanent exhibition.

Dr. Esra Ahmed Wali, Vice president for Partnerships and Development at the University of Bahrain, commended the longstanding partnership and collaboration between the bank and the university. She stated, "Eskan Bank’s Creative Engineering Competition is an inspiring initiative that motivates students to develop their creative ideas and innovations. It serves as an educational platform where theoretical knowledge is applied to real-world issues, fostering interdisciplinary thinking and highlighting the dynamics of urban innovation." Notably, the criteria set by the team uphold high standards for competitors, enriching the new generation of engineers' experiences.

Furthermore, she added "At the University of Bahrain, we appreciate Eskan Bank's initiative in adopting this competition, which promotes innovation and creativity, equipping young people with high-level skills and global content. This provides Bahraini youth with qualitative capabilities that keep pace with global developments and enable them to engage in the job market."

Eng. Mohamed Jaffar Bucheeri, General Manager of Eskan Properties Company, confirmed that Eskan Bank, through Eskan Properties Company, annually sponsors a competition designed to enhance students' creativity and align their ideas with the needs of Bahraini society. He emphasized that the Bank selected the award topic to reflect the current trend of vertical development, adopted by both the Government and the private sector, thereby promoting a culture consistent with future construction and demographic trends.

Mr. Bucheeri praised the stunning creative ideas and designs, the high quality of work, and the students' diligence in meeting the award's standards. These achievements are sufficient to enrich the experiences of the new generation of engineers.

A special exhibition was held alongside the honouring event, showcasing outstanding drawings, models, and designs by the competition participants, allowing them to display and explain their projects to visitors.

Eskan Bank Award for Creative Engineering & Interior Design is an annual award established by Eskan Bank in partnership with the University of Bahrain in 2013. This award aims to foster creative competition, broaden the horizons of creativity and innovation for young minds, involve them in national housing and architectural issues, and assist the young generation of engineers in recognizing the housing needs of families and participating in developing solutions for them.

The award is granted based on high professional standards for outstanding projects by female and male students from various engineering branches at the University of Bahrain. It is launched annually under a different title, selected according to the latest scientific and technological developments, to serve anticipated sustainable development goals and meet the housing and construction needs in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
